Our commitment to accessibility
The technical standards we work to are
- XHTML 1.0 Transitional
- CSS 2.0
- The UK Government Guidelines for websites
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 — we work to meet the minimum double-A checkpoints
We believe making a website accessible is about more than simply meeting a set of technical standards. The National Archives is committed to user centered design, which means involving users at all stages of our design work. As part of that commitment, the web team actively works in partnership with disabled people to explore ways to improve our online services.
We know we don't always get it right and welcome feedback. If you would like to contact us and share your experience you can email the web team here.
